Meeting Notes for April

Meeting Notes for April 13

Positive Comments:

  • The book contains clever rhymes.
  • The story offers a good study in reverse psychology.
  • The pictures have interesting details.

Concerns:

  • Sustaining poetry that scans throughout an entire picture book is almost impossible.
  • The forced rhymes just do not work.
  • The story addresses adults more than children.
  • Being so devious takes a higher level of intelligence, and for such a child to believe the crown story does not ring true.

Read to 1st grade class. They liked the fact that Minera gave up her bad behavior and started 'doing the right thing!' Overall, they enjoyed the story. Rhyme is just right for reading aloud.
