Notes for March 23 Meeting

Positive Comments:

  • This effective portrait of addiction without brutality shows how easily one can become a victim.
  • Religion is handled well without being preachy since it is naturally a part of the protagonist’s life.
  • The story offers a look at life through a character’s meth-addicted eyes.
  • The terrific writing becomes poetic at times.
  • The appropriate time jumps make the story more interesting.

Concerns:

  • Readers feel disconnected from the protagonist without particular interest in her future.
  • Character development is weak.
  • Since the timeline wis confusing, a reader tried to use the younger brother’s age to keep track.
